2. Santé

Santé is a restaurant that serves exquisite French-inspired American cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Seasonally, the menu varies to reflect what ingredients are available at Matthew’s Farmers Market, immediately across the street! Their intimate dining room is ideal for a romantic dinner or a peaceful evening with friends.

Santé is also housed in a historic building in Downtown Matthews built in the 1880s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Portrait Gallery Restaurant is a small plates dining experience with amazing service and legendary food. 4. Jekyll and Hyde Taphouse Grill

Welcome to Charlotte’s only Steampunk gastropub with three locations throughout the area, one of them being in Matthews. They are proud to boast a wide selection of freshly brewed beers, wine, and signature cocktails.

This restaurant is family-owned and makes all their meals from scratch with only the freshest ingredients! They will dish up excellent food that is a mixture of traditional and not-so-traditional English/Irish/American dishes. Locals call this the best place for authentic burgers, steaks, soups & salads, and desserts.

5. Azteca Maxican Restaurant

Azteca Mexican Restaurants provide a diverse menu of traditional Mexican cuisine, including salads, burritos, fajitas, soups, enchiladas, and a “Little Amigo” menu intended exclusively for children served in a pleasant Hacienda-style setting.
